EDUCATION THUNDER PROGRAM

The SIMtone Education Thunder Program is a new initiative that aims to help close the digital divide and provide access to full PCs-in-the-Cloud to the estimated five billion people who cannot afford it, without requiring them to own, or even know how to use a computer.

SIMtone’s Universal Cloud-Computing Platform simplifies the delivery of virtual desktops and other cloud services to users, without requiring them to own a PC.  With SIMtone, educational institutions at all levels can avoid the up-front expenditures needed to purchase computers, as well as the infrastructure required to support them.  Since SIMtone enables simple, on-demand access to PCs hosted in the cloud, students of all education levels can use it from anywhere there is a broadband connection – at home, in the the library, in the classroom, wherever.

And since SIMtone enables “computing without a computer”, SIMtone SNAP terminal devices consume very little power, enabling full access to full computing power in emerging countries where wireless broadband is already widely available, but cost and access to electricity is still limited and very expensive.

The program's educational content is provided by the U.S. Fund for UNICEF (USF), and is open to technology, connectivity and financial sponsors worldwide. For more information about the SIMtone Education Thunder Program please contact info@simtone.net.
